The Comedy Moves To A New Platform After Netflix Success
Jennifer Lawrence’s hit comedy No Hard Feelings is making a move. After nearly a year of streaming on Netflix, the film is now heading to a new home. Beginning September 23, 2024, No Hard Feelings will be available on SonyLIV (OTTplay Premium). The sex comedy follows Lawrence as Maddie, a woman hired by wealthy parents to help their socially awkward son, Percy (Andrew Barth Feldman), gain confidence before heading to college.
What No Hard Feelings Is About
An Unconventional Job With Unexpected Results
No Hard Feelings, directed by Gene Stupnitsky, offers a comedic twist on an unusual scenario. Maddie answers a job post from parents hoping to help their shy 19-year-old son come out of his shell. What seems like an easy summer gig quickly proves more complicated, as Maddie races against time to help Percy — with plenty of laughs along the way. The cast also includes Laura Benanti, Natalie Morales, and Matthew Broderick.
A Box Office And Awards Success
$87 Million Worldwide And Major Nominations
Released in theaters on June 23, 2023, No Hard Feelings became both a critical and commercial success. The film grossed over $87 million worldwide on a modest $45 million budget. Lawrence earned a Golden Globe nomination for Best Actress in a Comedy or Musical and won the People’s Choice Award for Comedy Movie Star. The film also received a Critics' Choice nomination for Best Comedy. Notably, the story was inspired by a real Craigslist ad, discovered by producers during a dinner with Lawrence herself.
In a fun nod to its bold tone, Vulture awarded the film “Best Stunt in a Non-Action Film” in 2024, recognizing a standout beach scene where Lawrence’s character fearlessly confronts three teens.
Streaming Success On Netflix
Topping The Charts With Over 1 Billion Minutes Viewed
Upon its debut on Netflix, No Hard Feelings dominated the streaming charts, premiering at #1 with over 1 billion minutes viewed during its first week, according to Nielsen. The film attracted a wide audience, ranging in age from 18 to 64, with 30% of viewers identifying as Hispanic or African American. It was the only title that week to surpass 1 billion minutes streamed.
With its move to SonyLIV, No Hard Feelings is poised to reach an even broader audience.
