An iconic Rachel Green outfit from the Friends archives is getting a second life. As the beloved sitcom celebrated its 30th anniversary this year, some of the cast’s most famous looks—from Rachel’s parade of ‘90s slip dresses to Phoebe’s array of eclectic boho coats—are living rent-free in fans’ minds. To celebrate the three-decade milestone, a selection of the series’ most memorable outfits just went up for auction, including one of Rachel’s best fall pieces.
Julien’s Auctions worked with Warner Bros. Television to put together a Central Perk-approved collection of over 100 costumes, props, and other collectibles for a Friends 30th anniversary auction. In addition to crushing estimates with bids up to $29,250 for reproductions of the iconic Central Perk couch, the Geller Cup trophy, and Ross Geller’s dresser, a sweater that Rachel (played by Jennifer Aniston) wore also garnered a lot of attention.

Friends fans will remember that Rachel wore a gray turtleneck knit sweater with a shorter version of her iconic haircut in season 7, episode 16, which was titled “The One With The Truth About London.” In the episode, Rachel is asked by Ross to babysit his son, Ben. A nervous Rachel decides to pass the time by teaching Ben pranks, which he then plays on his unwitting parents. Considering Rachel worked in fashion in the show and her outfits have inspired fashion trends over the years, it’s unsurprising that this seemingly understated, classic staple was a must-have item.
According to Julien’s Auctions, the long-sleeved gray mohair sweater—which is the original piece that Aniston wore on set—brought in 6.5 times the estimate it had made. After 23 bids, the item was sold for $6,500.

Other original clothing that was worn by the Friends cast was also auctioned off, including Chandler Bing’s teal polo sweater that the late actor Matthew Perry wore in in season 7, episode 10, titled “The One With The Holiday Armadillo,” which also sold for $6,500. Fans also gravitated towards Phoebe Buffay’ blue denim coat which was trimmed with faux fur on the cuffs and neck and decorated with embroidered flowers. The statement outerwear piece, which Lisa Kudrow wore in season 7, episode 18, titled “The One With Joey’s Award,” sold for $5,200 after 22 bids.
