‘The Morning Show’ Continues With Ripped-from-the-Headlines Stories for Season 4, With New Cast Members Including Alex Levy’s Dad

The Morning Show with its look at the inside machinations of fictional news network UBA will be returning for a fourth season. It stars Jennifer Aniston as Alex Levy and Reese Witherspoon as Bradley Jackson and explores the lives of these two women who bring the world’s big stories to TV.

“The show is a love story between these women,” showrunner Charlotte Stoudt told The Hollywood Reporter. “The core of The Morning Show is their dynamic and how they change each other.”

Season 3 ended with a lot of unanswered questions. Even so, there will be a time jump when the show returns for Season 4, possibly to give viewers the opportunity to learn the results of Bradley’s decision to turn herself in to the FBI—she’s facing felony charges—for her decision to delete footage of her brother Hal’s involvement in the January 6 insurrection.

And we’ll also see how the merger between UBA and NBN is working out and exactly what roll Alex is playing.

“The thing I love about this show is it has the opportunity to speak to the moment,” Stoudt told Deadline. “It is a show about truth and we’re in this crazy time where truth is so contested, elusive and pulled in every direction so I think the tension between the gloss, glamour and the sexiness of the show and the anxiety underneath gives the show its special sauce.”

When will Season 4 of The Morning Show premiere?

Stoudt shared at a PaleyFest panel in Los Angeles that Season 4 will premiere after the upcoming presidential election in November 2024, adding that they are currently writing Season 4.

Is there a trailer for The Morning Show Season 4?

No trailer has been released. Keep checking back.

What is the story for Season 4 of The Morning Show?

One thing that is for certain in Season 4 is that the Alex-Bradley friendship will continue front and center even though both women are in very different places in their careers. Alex has earned her seat at the management table, while Bradley is facing the unknown with the FBI and the fact that she tried to protect her brother by hiding the footage of him at the January 6 insurrection.

“To me, the core of the show is their dynamic and how they change each other,” Stoudt told The Hollywood Reporter. “And I think that always has to be there, absolutely. So, we’ll find a way. They’ll be in the same room, somehow!”

With that said, Season 4 will start with a time jump because the show doesn’t want to get too far behind what is happening in real life, issues such as the presidential election and the threat of potentially misleading technologies like AI will be explored.

“I think those time jumps, actually, are great because they allow for really surprising reveals at the top of the season,” Stoudt told THR. “It’s a little bit of: “How did they get there? Wait, he’s doing what? Those two are together?!” I think just on a sheer deliciousness of story, you can have a lot of fun with this big cast.”

Then she expanded on that to Deadline“We blew everything up last year with the biggest bomb we could possibly build,” she said. “So, we have to ask ourselves how is the band going to get back together, and what will that look like? We get into the world of DeepFakes and AI and the misinformation in the fog of war that we’re seeing now in the Middle East and stuff. We’re looking at who can you trust. And can you trust what you’re seeing? Can you trust yourself? Can you trust your news outlet?”

In addition, The Morning Show will continue to explore the power dynamic between men and women.

“The question of who’s going to run this place in the end and the question of can women do it better, well, let’s see,” Stoudt told Deadline.

And then there are all the unresolved issues with other characters, such as Cory (Billy Crudup), who lost his job at UBA; and Paul Marks (Jon Hamm), whose illegal schemes were revealed and who was dumped by Alex.

“We’re absolutely going to play out the consequences of what we saw in season three — in every sense and for every character,” Stout told THR. “If we asked the audience to go on that ride, then we have to honor that ride.”

According to VarietyJulianne Margulies will not be returning to her role as Laura Peterson, Bradley Jackson's ex, who broke up with Bradley over her decision to cover up her brother's involvement re the Jan. 6 insurrection. Variety reports that Margulies was offered a one-episode appearance in Season 4 to wrap up her storyline, but she turned it down.

What happened in Season 3 of The Morning Show?

Rather than ending with a cut-to-black broadcast like Seasons 1 and 2, Season 3 ended with solo shots of Alex and Bradley. Alex had just escorted Bradley to the FBI, where she would learn her fate re her role in the Jan. 6 insurrection cover-up to protect her brother Hal, and Alex then headed back to UBA to take her hard-earned seat at the management table, which she earned by turning on Paul at the UBA board meeting and presenting a merger with NBN to prevent his hostile takeover and destruction of the news division.

Alex had help in stopping Paul. The crusade was begun by potential whistleblower, Kate (Natalie Morales), who had been fired from Hyperion. But the others involved were Bradley, Stella and Chip.

How many episodes will there be of Season 4 of The Morning Show?

The fourth season will consist of ten episodes like the previous three seasons.

Will there be a season 5 of The Morning Show?

While Apple TV+ has yet to announce the pickup of a fifth season, Stoudt wouldn't be opposed to it.

She told THR, "You can always say something new about what’s going on in the world. I have no idea about how long people want to go on, but I do think it’s a show that can constantly reinvent itself."

How can I watch The Morning Show?

The Morning Show airs exclusively on Apple TV+. Seasons 1-3 are available now streaming.
