According to reports, Jolie and The Penguin star Colin Farrell were rumored to have romantic interest in each other. However, Jolie rubbished these rumors during an interview. Nonetheless, the rumors of a supposed romantic interest between the two stars refuse to subside decades after their alleged fling, and here is what you need to know in that regard.

Angelina Jolie made headlines for her then-rumored relationship with actor Brad Pitt while the latter was still married to Jennifer Aniston. While Jolie went on to date and later marry Pitt, she was linked with another actor before the highly publicized relationship.
In 2004, Jolie appeared alongside actor Colin Farrell in the historical drama Alexander. While Jolie played the DC star’s mother in the movie, she and Farrell were rumored to have had a brief fling during its production. However, Jolie dismissed the reports stating (via People):
We became great friends. The reason why we’d never end up dating is that we’re the same in a lot of ways.
Jolie’s words heavily implied that she and Farrell were just friends and had no romantic interest in each other at the time.
However, a source close to The Penguin actor claimed that he and Jolie had a fling but allegedly did not pursue a romantic relationship with each other because of the former’s lack of commitment to The Eternals actress. Despite the strong rumors, Jolie later started dating Pitt following his split from Aniston in 2005.

Almost two decades after her rumored fling with Farrell, Jolie is now single, having divorced from Pitt in 2019. In a 2023 interview with The Wall Street Journal, Jolie confirmed that she was single and focusing on rebuilding her life following the divorce and raising her children.
In 2024, rumors of a romantic interest between Jolie and Farrell resurfaced with a source revealing the same to In Touch Weekly. The source claimed that the 49-year-old actress still had a crush on Farrell, especially since the latter had cleaned up his act in recent years.
They were a great match, but the timing wasn’t right, they both had a lot of growing up to do. She’s very impressed with the work that he’s done on himself and the man that he’s become.
The source reportedly made the above comment regarding a potential linkup between Jolie and Farrell, who was nominated for a Golden Globe for his performance in The Penguin.
Farrell hasn’t had a serious relationship since 2010 after his split from Polish actress Alicja Bachleda-Curuś. However, like Jolie, he has two children and the source also revealed that the actress admired Farrell’s parenting approach. Hence, only time will tell if Jolie and Farrell pursue a serious romantic relationship in the future.
