SHOCKING — Patty Jenkins Confirms No Wonder Woman 3 in Sight Amid DC’s New Direction

Patty Jenkins, the acclaimed director behind the blockbuster hits Wonder Woman (2017) and its sequel Wonder Woman 1984 (2020), has delivered a candid update that will disappoint many fans: there will be no Wonder Woman 3 for the foreseeable future.

The Wonder Woman franchise, led by the charismatic Gal Gadot, marked a major milestone for female-led superhero films. The first installment was met with widespread acclaim and commercial success, solidifying Wonder Woman as a cultural icon. However, the follow-up struggled to capture the same magic, facing mixed reviews and underwhelming box office returns.

In a revealing conversation on the Talking Pictures podcast, Jenkins addressed the future of the franchise and her role in it. When asked whether she would return to direct a third Wonder Woman film starring Gadot, Jenkins was unequivocal. She stated that she has stepped away from the project—for now, and possibly permanently. According to Jenkins, the future of the Wonder Woman series is uncertain, and the studio currently has no plans to proceed with another film.

“No, they’re not interested in doing any Wonder Woman for the time being,” Jenkins explained. “It’s not an easy task, especially with everything going on at DC. James Gunn and Peter Safran are charting a new course for the universe, and they need to follow their own vision. I don’t know what they’re planning or why, but I understand it’s a massive job. They have to do what they’re passionate about and what fits their strategy.”

This statement comes as DC Entertainment undergoes a significant transformation under the leadership of Gunn and Safran, who are steering the brand toward fresh storytelling with a revamped slate of films. The directors have expressed a desire to build a cohesive universe with new characters and story arcs, making the future of legacy heroes like Wonder Woman uncertain.

The speculation surrounding the franchise was further fueled by recent rumors claiming that Elizabeth Debicki would replace Gal Gadot as Wonder Woman. James Gunn quickly dispelled these reports, labeling them as fabricated and confirming his admiration for Debicki but clarifying that no such recasting decisions had been made or even considered.

While Gunn’s comments brought clarity to that rumor, they did not confirm any plans for a new Wonder Woman movie or the return of Gal Gadot. The franchise remains on hold as Warner Bros and DC assess their creative direction moving forward.

For now, DC fans eager for new content have something else to look forward to: James Gunn’s upcoming Superman movie, set to release in July 2025. The film features a fresh cast, including David Corenswet as Clark Kent, Rachel Brosnahan as Lois Lane, Nicholas Hoult as Lex Luthor, and Isabela Merced as Hawkgirl. This project marks the studio’s commitment to exploring iconic characters through new lenses, aligning with the broader reboot strategy.

In summary, Patty Jenkins’ confirmation signals a pause—if not an end—to the Wonder Woman trilogy for now, leaving fans to wonder about the character’s future on the big screen. As DC redefines its cinematic universe, it remains to be seen when or if Wonder Woman will return to lead another solo adventure.

Until official updates emerge, fans can only wait and watch as DC charts its next moves in an increasingly competitive superhero landscape.
