For the 38-year-old, growing her family was a long and, at times, difficult path. In a 2023 interview, the Pretty Boys Are Poisonous author shared that she suffered a miscarriage while previously expecting the rapper’s baby.
"I've never been through anything like that in my life," she said on Good Morning America. "I have three kids, so it was very difficult for both of us and it sent us on a very wild journey together and separately…trying to navigate, ‘What does this mean?' and 'Why did this happen?'"
Indeed, the former couple has always been open about their love for parenthood. And though MGK—who shares 15-year-old daughter Casie with ex Emma Cannon—admits that he didn’t have the best relationship with his parents, he wants to change that narrative with his own offspring.
“As much as a f–k up people say I am, I pray that I have the connection I didn’t have with my parents with my kid,” he shared on the “Life Lessons” YouTube series in 2015. “When I’m with her, nothing else matters.”
And like most parents, the "my ex's best friend" singer just wants his kids to be happy above all else.
"I was just walking behind my daughter in the airport the other day and she just has this walk, it's this pure bounce, she's so excited for life like she's so young in her life," MGK shared during a 2021 appearance on The Drew Barrymore Show. "I just pray to every God that exists that she just keeps that bounce forever and that no one interferes with that."
Megan, too, has put a lot of thought into how her parenting will affect her kids into adulthood.
“It’s very important for me to raise boys who are able to have a very deep emotional intimacy with their partner,” she explained to Women’s Wear Daily in November 2023. “I don’t expect them when they’re 16 to have a sacred love, but I do expect them at some point to get to that place, because I am their first introduction into women and the way that I love them is going to influence the way they are allowed to love others when they go out into a relationship.”
Megan went on to add that her ultimate hope for them is that they learn to love in a “really healthy way.”
For Megan, her relationship with MGK has seen many highs and lows over the years, lows that included a number of breakup rumors.
In fact, during a March interview with Call Her Daddy's Alex Cooper, the Confessions of a Teenage Drama Queen star revealed that her engagement to MGK was once called off. However, she didn't delve too deep into the breakup details.
"I think that what I've learned from being in this relationship is that it's not for public consumption," Megan explained. "So I think as of now, I don't have a comment on like the status of the relationship. What I can say is, that is what I refer to as being my 'twin soul', and there will always be a tether to him no matter what."
