Miley Cyrus has set the record straight on those Jennifer Lawrence diss rumors. In a new TikTok posted Tuesday, the Grammy-winner revealed that the gold gown from her "Flowers" music video was not, in fact, inspired by Lawrence's Hunger Games premiere look.
Outside the taping of Cyrus's recent episode of Jimmy Kimmel Live!, the pop star was asked if her "Flowers" dress was "a reference" to Lawrence.
"No," she revealed in the short clip. "But I love that dress of hers."
After Cyrus dropped the "Flowers" music video in 2023, rumors circulated that she made a dig at Lawrence regarding her fling with Cyrus's ex, Liam Hemsworth. While filming the Hunger Games franchise, the co-stars did share an off-screen kiss, Lawrence once admitted on Watch What Happens Live, though it was after Hemsworth and Cyrus split.
Cyrus and Hemsworth were together on-and-off for over a decade and eventually tied the knot in 2018. The couple divorced just two years later, and their breakup is thought to have inspired Cyrus's "Flowers."
At the time, Lawrence refuted rumors that she was romantically involved with Hemsworth while he was with Cyrus, calling the false reports "really upsetting."
“It’s really hard when, you know, if five people at a party think you slept with somebody's boyfriend, for example, it's really upsetting,” the actress told Andy Cohen in a 2023 interview. “And then you multiply it by—I'm not good at the math—8 billion.”
