Right now is an exciting time to be a John Wick fan. With the Ana de Armas-led From the World of John Wick: Ballerina hitting strong figures in theaters and the recent announcement that John Wick 5 is officially in the works, it's encouraging to assume that the future of cinema still has room in it for Keanu Reeves' legendary hitman. Whilst Ballerina battles against the likes of Lilo & Stitch, Tom Cruise's Mission: Impossible – The Final Reckoning, and box office newcomer How to Train Your Dragon, many are returning to the most recent installment in the main franchise for more action-packed fun.
Officially, as of June 15, Chad Stahelski's John Wick: Chapter 4 is currently the #10 most-streamed movie on Peacock in the US. Elsewhere in the list, at #9, Jurassic World: Fallen Kingdom is proving popular with another installment on its way. #8 is held by the 2024 smash-hit Wicked, with Trolls Band Together at #7, and Ke Huy Quan's box office flop Love Hurts at #6. The top 5 begins with two timely popular hits, How to Train Your Dragon: The Hidden World and the 2010 animated original, with Despicable Me 3 aptly at #3. Adam Sandler's Happy Gilmore is at #2, with the top spot going the way of Peter Hastings’ Dog Man.
John Wick: Chapter 4 was another successful entry for the franchise, with Collider's Ross Bonaime awarding it a "B+" in his 2023 review, "John Wick: Chapter 4 is a goofy, ridiculous, three-hours of fun that manages to not overstay its welcome," Bonaime wrote, adding, "Stahelski continues to find ways to keep this series from getting stale, and Chapter 4 pushes the ambition to the brink. John Wick: Chapter 4 brings this part of the story to a close with some of the most unhinged action scenes ever put on screen, but shows that there’s still so much to do within this world."
How Did 'John Wick: Chapter 4' Perform at the Box Office?
Officially the highest-grossing movie in the franchise, with Ballerina unlikely to break that record, John Wick: Chapter 4 was an enormous success by many metrics. With a reported production budget of $100 million, Chapter 4 turned in an impressive 4.5 times that investment with a global haul of $447 million, split between $187 million domestically and $260 million from overseas markets. This total helped Chapter 4 become the 15th highest-grossing movie of 2023, outperforming a selection of huge titles, including Aquaman and the Lost Kingdom, Transformers: Rise of the Beasts, and even Jason Statham's biting action sequel Meg 2: The Trench.
John Wick: Chapter 4 is available now on Peacock.
