Justin Theroux on Why He Split from Jennifer Aniston and Decided to Stay Friends: ‘It would be a loss if we weren’t in contact’

For decades, Jennifer Aniston’s love life has been a major point of interest to the public. In fact, ever since her time on the NBC sitcom, FRIENDS, fans have always wanted to know about her relationship status and who she was dating. Although she has been with many celebrities over the years, only two of those relationships ended up leading her down the aisle.

While the world has speculated that Angelina Jolie may have been the reason for her 2005 split from Brad Pitt, the reason behind the end of the 55-year-old’s relationship with her second husband, Justin Theroux, was always kept under wraps.

Just 3 years after their sudden split took over tabloids, Theroux gave the world a little more insight into why he and Aniston had chosen to get separated and stay friends.

Justin Theroux opened up about why he and Jennifer Aniston stayed friends after their split

A decade after her split from Brad Pitt, Jennifer Aniston took a chance on love again. In 2015, the actress tied the knot with fellow actor, Justin Theroux. However, just three short years later, the couple ended up calling it quits. While details of their split were kept out of the papers, that did not stop people from making their own speculations. In 2021, Justin Theroux sat down for an interview with Esquire and opened up about the divorce and their enduring friendship.

Like it or not, we didn’t have that dramatic split, and we love each other. I’m sincere when I say that I cherish our friendship. We can not be together and still bring each other joy and friendship. It would be a loss if we weren’t in contact, for me personally.

While tabloids had everyone believing that Aniston and Theroux had divorced over not agreeing on a place to settle down, the actor shut those down. He stated, “That’s just not the case. It’s an oversimplification.” After all, the former couple kept their friendship going with the 53-year-old admitting, “We don’t talk every day, but we call each other. We FaceTime. We text.”

Although Aniston and Theroux managed to stay on good terms, the split still ended up messing with the 55-year-old. In fact, it even made her take a break from the high-stakes world of falling in love.

After Brad Pitt and Justin Theroux, Jennifer Aniston is learning to love again

Over the years, Jennifer Aniston has had her fair share of Hollywood romances. However, none of them ended as badly as her marriage to Brad Pitt. With the Bullet Train star being rather insensitive after their split, it’s no surprise that it took the FRIENDS actress 10 years to try her hand at love again. While she got hitched to Justin Theroux in 2015, that relationship also ended with a divorce. In an interview with InTouch Weekly, an insider shed light on what the star’s thoughts on dating were.

Jen has been burned so many times that she’s more careful than ever when it comes to jumping into a new relationship. She doesn’t feel like she needs a relationship right now. She’s never been happier and is content enough to be by herself.

In fact, the insider also ended up revealing that Aniston had not gone on a date since her 2018 divorce from Theroux. They continued that the actress had been focusing on herself by going to therapy and addressing the issues she believed needed to be evaluated. The source continued, “Jen has been healing and learning to love again.”

With Aniston always being right in the center of everyone’s interest, it should not come as a surprise that the Emmy-winning actress is being more selective about who she lets into her life as she focuses on her growth.
