However, just three short years later, the couple ended up calling it quits. While details of their split were kept out of the papers, that did not stop people from making their own speculations. In 2021, Justin Theroux sat down for an interview with Esquire and opened up about the divorce and their enduring friendship.

Like it or not, we didn’t have that dramatic split, and we love each other. I’m sincere when I say that I cherish our friendship. We can not be together and still bring each other joy and friendship. It would be a loss if we weren’t in contact, for me personally.

While tabloids had everyone believing that Aniston and Theroux had divorced over not agreeing on a place to settle down, the actor shut those down. He stated, “That’s just not the case. It’s an oversimplification.” After all, the former couple kept their friendship going with the 53-year-old admitting, “We don’t talk every day, but we call each other. We FaceTime. We text.”

Although Aniston and Theroux managed to stay on good terms, the split still ended up messing with the 55-year-old. In fact, it even made her take a break from the high-stakes world of falling in love.

Jen has been burned so many times that she’s more careful than ever when it comes to jumping into a new relationship. She doesn’t feel like she needs a relationship right now. She’s never been happier and is content enough to be by herself.

In fact, the insider also ended up revealing that Aniston had not gone on a date since her 2018 divorce from Theroux. They continued that the actress had been focusing on herself by going to therapy and addressing the issues she believed needed to be evaluated. The source continued, “Jen has been healing and learning to love again.”

With Aniston always being right in the center of everyone’s interest, it should not come as a surprise that the Emmy-winning actress is being more selective about who she lets into her life as she focuses on her growth.
