As she awaits the birth of her second child, Jennifer Lawrence bundled up for a walk through New York City on February 12. The actress hit the streets of Manhattan in a statement coat, crewneck sweater, jeans, and boots, and accessorized the look with a cord necklace featuring a red circular pendant and a black leather tote bag from the Row.
Lawrence—who has been married to art gallerist Cooke Maroney since October 2019—announced her second pregnancy on October 20 in a Vogue article; the couple are already parents to son Cy, who will turn 3 years old this month. Possibly hinting at the new baby’s impending due date, a source told People at the time of Lawrence’s October pregnancy announcement that “her son will [be] 3 when the new baby arrives.”
The source added that Lawrence is “thrilled to be pregnant again” and that “she loves being a mom. It feels like the perfect timing for her.”
In a September 2022 Vogue interview—about seven months after Cy was born—Lawrence said it was “so scary to talk about motherhood. Only because it’s so different for everybody.”
“The morning after I gave birth, I felt like my whole life had started over,” she continued. “Like, ‘Now is day one of my life.’ I just stared. I was just so in love. I also fell in love with all babies everywhere. Newborns are just so amazing. They’re these pink, swollen, fragile little survivors. Now I love all babies. Now I hear a baby crying in a restaurant and I’m like, ‘Awwww, preciousssss.”
Speaking to fellow actress Cameron Diaz in a 2023 Interview magazine conversation, Lawrence said of bringing kids into the public eye, “Of course, I’ve contemplated having a child that’s being born into a lifestyle that’s different from his friends. But kids have advantages and disadvantages when they’re born, all of them.”
“The best thing I can do is just make sure he knows he’s loved, and that he’s our number one priority, and try to be a good example of kindness,” she continued. “I’m sure there will be challenges specifically from my choices and my lifestyle, and we’ll both have to confront that and deal with it when that day comes.”
