Jennifer Lawrence is proving that black can be the most angelic color.
The actor, who is pregnant with her second child with husband Cooke Maroney, looked ethereal in a gauzy, inky-black gown at the premiere of Bread & Roses, which took place at the Hammer Museum in Los Angeles on November 14.
It was a floor-length dress from Christian Lacroix’a Fall/Winter 2006 collection, sourced by stylist Jamie Mizrahi from Shrimpton Couture. It had draping details along the sides, barely there spaghetti straps, and sheer black ruched sleeves that covered only Lawrence’s elbows. At the chest, the gown was adorned with a large black bow in the same see-through material as the sleeves, and a silky black ribbon was draped over one of J.Law’s shoulders.

The No Hard Feelings star cradled her baby bump as she posed quietly for photos. The outing marked Lawrence’s second red-carpet appearance since she confirmed her second pregnancy in October.
The Dior darling wore the breezy dress only with strappy black leather Manolo Blahnik sandals, dangly white-diamond earrings from Anita Ko, and a sculptural silver ring. She complemented her romantic ensemble with a burgundy smoky eye; rosy, glowy blush; and a super-glossy lip. She had her blonde hair styled down in a sleek, side-parted do that she tucked behind her ears.

Bread & Roses, an Apple documentary, highlights the impact that the Taliban’s return to power in Afghanistan has had on women and follows as three women fight for their freedoms. Lawrence and female-education and women’s-rights advocate Malala Yousafzai helped produce the film. It will be released on Apple TV+ on November 22.
