Starring in the popular sitcom The Big Bang Theory, Kaley Cuoco and Johnny Galecki became a beloved pair, portraying the on-screen couple Penny and Leonard. Their chemistry extended beyond the camera, as they were also romantically involved off-screen briefly before parting ways.
While they largely kept their relationship off the radar at the time, both Cuoco and Galecki opened up about their dating experience in Jessica Radloff’s book, The Definitive Inside Story of the Epic Hit Series. They also reflected on an encounter that led to a bold response from Galecki while reflecting on Cuoco’s flirtation with him.
Johnny Galecki and Kaley Cuoco’s Hilarious Flirtation During a Weekend Getaway
In Jessica Radloff’s book, The Big Bang Theory: The Definitive Inside Story of the Epic Hit Series, Johnny Galecki, and Kaley Cuoco opened up about their relationship from 2007 to 2009.
While the two didn’t know each other initially, Cuoco felt an immediate connection and admitted to having a huge crush on her co-star. “I had a very big crush on Johnny early on,” she said, as per Vanity Fair.
Further into their candid conversation, The Big Bang Theory stars shared a humorous anecdote from a weekend trip. Galecki explained how Cuoco often missed their off-set gatherings, but during their trip to Montecito, he decided to give her a call to see if she was interested in joining them.
The Flight Attendant star, who had just broken up with her partner, accepted the invitation. However, things took an interesting turn when she reached her destination. Galecki recalled how Cuoco, who was staying right next to his cabin, called him with a peculiar request.
“She said, ‘There’s a bug in my room,'” he recalled saying that she asked him to come and deal with it. The In Time actor, however, wasn’t easily convinced. “I’m not doing that,” he replied, noting that he suspected her call was more than just about a pesky insect.

Johnny Galecki expressed his suspicions about Kaley Cuoco’s call, saying, “I smelled a rat and was thinking, Is this your way of inviting me into your hotel room basically?”
And the Meet Cute actress confirmed his suspicions, admitting she was indeed trying to entice him into her room and was taken aback when he turned her down.
There was definitely a bug in my room and I was flirting with him! So both were true! I was like, Ooh, this could be a good way to get him in there! But that didn’t work… I couldn’t believe he turned me down.
While the Roseanne alum found her attempt both clever and adorable, he hesitated to act, considering she had just come out of a relationship. While recalling the incident, the actor humorously defended himself, saying, “I’m not just a piece of meat. There’s a heart in here.”
The rest of the trip went smoothly and they had fun and enjoyed the camaraderie they built as a cast. Afterward, their relationship took a pivotal turn with Galecki eventually making the first move and they started dating.
The couple was together for nearly two years before parting ways in 2009. They attributed the lack of mystery in their relationship as the reason for their split. Despite their ups and downs as a couple, the two have remained close friends since their split.
