Apple TV likes to tap into areas that you don’t normally see other studios do. Be it the super-rich life and struggles of a studio head, or a football coach surrounded by millionaires, or even a rich guy who lost his job and is stealing all his rich friends – there is something always so out of touch with the lives of the working class, and despite its factor of not coming off as relatable, it still manages to keep the vast audience on the hook.
One such show that has made rounds on the internet and has been running for three years is the Apple original show, called The Morning Show, starring Jennifer Aniston as Alex Levy, an experienced anchor, and Reese Witherspoon as Bradley Jackson, who becomes the new co-host.
Jennifer’s character is quite intriguing in the series, and she relates to her on a personal level. Aniston has always felt like Levy could say things and do things that the Friends star could wish to say or do. In a recent interview with The Hollywood Reporter, she discussed a monologue from the series that she felt was something quite personal.
Jennifer Aniston is glad her character Alex Levy could say out loud what she couldn’t
During the recent interview conducted by Lacey Rose from The Hollywood Reporter, Aniston was asked about the monologue in the finale of the show, where her character feels like her decision to be on TV would be an invitation to the world to “dig around asking questions about [her] s*x life.”
To this question, Aniston quickly praises the head writer Kerry Ehrin, who somehow found ways to make Aniston feel like her character was way more personal. She says there is something “witchy” about Ehrin. The Murder Mystery actress mentions the time when she was unable to move due to a disc injury, and Ehrin found ways to make her character, Alex, also end up with a back injury in the 5th episode. She believes the writer always wrote her character in a way that if Aniston could have written it herself, she would have.
Coming back to the comments about her monologue resonating with her on a personal level, she said:
“It felt really good because I don’t think I’d ever have the blls to say, ‘Go fuk yourselves. Get the hell out of my panty drawer, you motherf**kers, and let me do my job and stop being mad at me for it.’ There was definitely something very freeing about that.“
Jennifer Aniston seemed relieved to be able to say what she wanted to say. The monologue reflects the real-life experiences and emotions of Aniston, and she found it liberating to express her character’s frustrations and set boundaries.
