Gal Gadot reveals she had emergency brain surgery while 8 months pregnant

Israeli actress Gal Gadot on Sunday revealed that she underwent emergency surgery after a “massive blood clot” was found in her brain 10 months ago, while in the 8th month of pregnancy.

“For weeks, I had endured excruciating headaches that confined me to bed, until I finally underwent an MRI that revealed the terrifying truth,” the “Wonder Woman” actress wrote on Instagram. “In one moment, my family and I were faced with how fragile life can be.”

“My daughter, Ori, was born during that moment of uncertainty and fear,” she added, alongside a picture of her in a hospital gown breastfeeding her daughter, who was delivered before the emergency surgery.

Gadot said that her baby’s name means “my light,” and that before the operation she had told her husband Jaron Varsano that “when our daughter arrived, she would be the light waiting for me at the end of this tunnel.”

She announced Ori’s birth in March, also on Instagram. Her three other daughters are Alma, 11, Maya, 6, and Daniella, 2.

Gadot said that she underwent emergency surgery after rushing to Cedars Sinai Hospital in Los Angeles, where she is a top Hollywood draw. She has since fully healed.

The star wrote that she was unsure whether she should share her story after a year of “profound challenges and deep reflections,” but hoped to “raise awareness and support others who may face something similar” with the post to her 108 million followers.

“If even one person feels compelled to take action for their health because of this story, it will have been worth sharing,” she concluded.

According to Johns Hopkins University a cerebral venous sinus thrombosis is a blood clot in the brain’s venous sinuses that prevents blood in the brain from draining.

Gadot, who stars as the evil queen in Disney’s soon-to-be-released new version of “Snow White,” has publicly advocated for Israel over the years.

Following the devastating October 7 attack by Palestinian terror group Hamas that killed 1,200 people, mostly civilians, in Israel and saw another 251 taken as hostages to the Gaza Strip, Gadot has filled her Instagram feed with posts calling for the captives’ release.
