Israeli model and actress Gal Gadot has opened up about her time in the IDF, saying that the military prepared her well for Hollywood.
The Israeli star, who will be starring as Wonder Woman in the upcoming Zack Snyder movie "Batman v. Superman: Dawn of Justice," will be featured on the cover of the August edition of FASHION magazine.
During an interview with the magazine, Gadot was asked about her time in the Israeli military, to which she answered: “The army wasn’t that difficult for me. The military gave me good training for Hollywood.”
Conscription to the army is compulsory in Israel and like many young women in the country, Gadot spent two years serving her country.
On playing the role of Wonder Woman, Gadot said that “Never in my wildest dreams did I think I’d grow up to be in a movie playing someone who influenced as many women as she has.”
“Nowadays being a woman is hard, because we have to be the best wife, best mother, best worker, best everything!” she told the magazine.
Gadot, 30, was Miss Israel in 2004 and represented Israel in that year's Miss Universe contest. She has also played Gisele Yashar in the "Fast & Furious" film franchise and is a model for the Israeli clothing label Castro.
Gadot has landed a role in a new Hollywood thriller, "Criminal," set to be directed by Israeli-American Ariel Vromen. According to the Hollywood Reporter, Gal will be joining a list of veteran actors who have already been in the movie, including Kevin Costner, Gary Oldman and Tommy Lee Jones. The movie also stars Ryan Reynolds, Scarlett Johansson's ex-husband, and Gadot will play his wife.
Last summer Gadot sparked a heated online debate about the summer's fighting between Israel and Hamas when she posted a Facebook photo of herself and her daughter lighting Shabbat candles, accompanied by a message saying she was sending her "love and prayers to my fellow Israeli citizens. Especially to all the boys and girls who are risking their lives protecting my country against the horrific acts conducted by Hamas, who are hiding like cowards behind women and children."
