Angelina Jolie was the picture of happiness as she smiled during a recent holiday shopping outing – which came after an unexpected turn in the Chateau Miraval case with her ex-husband Brad Pitt.
The pair have locked in a nasty battle over the French winery and whether or not Jolie selling her shares in it was against a verbal agreement they had about its fate. The case has been full of twists and turns since, with Pitt facing a setback when he was ordered to turn over documents that could prove Jolie’s accusations of abuse.
Meanwhile, it has been reported that Jolie has had trouble funding her legal battle, particularly after her motions for dismissal were thrown out by a judge. However, the case has again taken a turn that could cause trouble for Pitt, as he is now being accused of hiding “embezzled property.”
Following the turn of events, Jolie was seen doing some holiday shopping in Los Angeles, where she was all smiles.
Jolie was seen first stopping for gifts and wrapping supplies at Blick Art in Hollywood and was also seen with her bodyguard at a vintage T-shirt store on Melrose Avenue.
In both sightings, Jolie appeared relaxed and happy, wearing a tan trench coat, a long sweater dress and and matching heels.
She also kept her hair down.
The relaxed outing and smiles on her face came after the latest turn in the case.
In a countersuit, according to In Touch, Pitt was accused of “embezzling property” by secretly diverting Chateau Miraval’s assets to “vanity projects” with “no business purpose.”
“[Brad] caused Chateau Miraval’s fnds and assets to be spent on his personal expenses and to be diverted to his other business ventures rather than to be paid out as dividends and loan repayments that would flow through Quimicum to Mondo Bongo and Nouvel, and ultimately back to [Brad] and [Angelina],” the suit read.
“That illegal conduct continued, and even intensified, after [Angelina] sold Nouvel to Tenute, the wine-making arm of the international beverage company, Stoli Group.”
