Angelina Jolie has long been a fan of collecting tattoos, but her latest ink holds a special meaning.
The 49-year-old Oscar winner opened up about her most recent ink in an interview with CR Fashion Book shared on Friday, September 20. "I got 'Stay Gold' with my daughter Viv during our time with The Outsiders," Jolie shared. "It means so much to us separately and together. There is also a bird that I share with some of my children that is personal to us."
The Maria star made headlines back in August 2023, when she hired daughter Vivienne Jolie, then 15, to be her assistant as she produced The Outsiders on Broadway. Sharing the news, Angelina compared her daughter to her late mother Marcheline Bertrand, an actor and producer who passed away in 2007.

"Viv reminds me of my mother in that she isn't focused on being the center of attention but in being a support to other creatives," she said, adding, "She's very thoughtful and serious about theater and working hard to best understand how to contribute."
At the time, an insider told Page Six that Angelina had been taking her daughter to the theater for years, and that the 16-year-old "fell in love" with The Outsiders when she saw it on Broadway with her mother at the world premiere in San Diego, California. She even met with the book's author, S.E. Hinton, 76, along with her mother, to discuss how to make the musical "resonate with young people."
The Girl, Interrupted actress debuted her new ink at the premiere of their Broadway show in April 2024. The phrase "Stay Gold" was written in script on her inner arm. It is not clear whether Vivienne got the tattoo in the same place and/or style.
Justin Levine, who co-wrote the musical's book and created the score, also got The Outsider's-themed tattoo with the famous mother-daughter duo. He praised Vivienne's personality and what she brought to the show.
"Viv is one of the greatest humans I've ever met and somebody who is an observer and who sees people and sees the world in a way that, you know, I think, so much about this show is reconnecting with your inner child," he gushed.
Angelina also shares Maddox, 23, Pax, 20, Zahara, 19, Shiloh, 18, and Knox, 16, with ex-husband Brad Pitt, to whom she was married from 2014 to 2019.
Since their contentious divorce, a number of their children — including Vivienne — have dropped "Pitt" from their last name. In August 2024, Shiloh got court approval to drop her father's last name, and Zahara introduced herself as "Zahara Marley Jolie" at a ceremony celebrating her joining the Alpha Kappa Alpha sorority at Spelman University.
