“Acting so horrible even Pedro couldn’t believe it”: The Gal Gadot Wonder Woman 1984 Scene That’ll Go Down in History as the Cringiest Moment in DCEU

Gal Gadot has starred in some of the biggest franchises in Hollywood and has established herself as a bankable action star. She became popular as Gisele from the Fast and Furious films and later would lead her own DCEU film with 2017’s Wonder Woman. The film was a huge hit and people adored her confident portrayal of the beloved DC character.

However, the sequel Wonder Woman 1984 which was released in 2020, proved to be a significant step down from the first film. The inclusion of too many villains and an inconsistent script were the factors that let down the film. Additionally, Gadot’s poor dialogue delivery became apparent in one infamous scene that fans continue to criticize.

One Cringy Scene From Wonder Woman 1984 Has Fans Mocking Gal Gadot’s Poor Acting

Gal Gadot sprang into the DCU as Wonder Woman in the DCU with 2016’s Batman v Superman: Dawn of Justice. The actress went on to lead the first Wonder Woman which ranks as arguably the best DC film during the Snyder era. Unfortunately, fans were terribly disappointed when she returned in 2020’s embarrassingly underwhelming Wonder Woman 1984.

Unlike the first film, Wonder Woman 1984 had the most outlandish narrative with its Steve storyline. It also struggled to make the two antagonists Maxwell Lord played by Pedro Pascal and Cheetah played by Kristen Wiig compelling. What made matters worse was that Gadot was not as convincing as Wonder Woman in the sequel.

The actress failed to carry the film and some scenes were poorly done due to her inability to convincingly portray the emotion required for them. One infamous scene where she inquires about Pascal’s character for the missing Dreamstone is one example of this where fans criticized Gadot’s poor dialogue delivery, making the scene unintentionally funny. Here are some of the reactions on X,

Fun Fact, Pedro wasn't even acting in this scene, this is just he's genuine reaction at how awful Gal Gadot is at acting pic.twitter.com/RHEE1HyOxq

Pedro Pascal carried this movie so hard; It's insane.

Gadot’s poor acting skills have always been a focal point of criticism that fans have of the actress, and this scene doubles down that argument. Wonder Woman 1984 was a colossal failure at the box office grossing only $169 million against a $200 million budget (via Box Office Mojo). The failure would be the end of Gadot’s tenure as the DC superhero.

Gal Gadot is set to play her first-ever villainous role in the upcoming adaptation of Disney’s 1937 animated Snow White and the Seven Dwarfs. In an interview with Vogue, the actress stated that she had a lot of fun playing the character and approached it a lot differently compared to her previous roles.

She claimed that she stretched her performance to make it more dramatic and animated. Gadot even changed her voice for her role and she is excited for audiences to see how it all turned out. The Wonder Woman actress said,

I think it was so much fun to play the Evil Queen. I enjoyed it, and I changed my voice and I did all these different things. There was something so delicious with this part because it’s a fairy tale. It’s the first Disney villain. And because it’s a musical, I could stretch my performance and make it so much more dramatic and so much more animated, that it was just simply delightful.

The role will indeed be a departure for Gadot from her usual action-oriented roles, and a showcase of her dramatic range as an actress. Snow White will be directed by Marc Webb and will star Rachel Zegler in the titular role along with Andrew Burnap, Ansu Kabia, and Martin Klebba. The film will hit theatres on March 21, 2025.
